We’ve had a lot of questions about how to find, download and install drivers.  Since it’s nap time and I don’t feel like spending quality nappie time on this subject, my friend Andy wrote a nice “how to” on downloading drivers.  Andy has a driver downloading site at bravofiles.com.  Thanks Andy.  ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH: Me, for not doing this awhile ago.Overview on Downloading Windows 7.   After you installed Windows 7, you want to download some drivers for hardware in your computer and because Windows 7 is the latest Microsoft operating system, the manufacturers release driver updates on a regular basis. To update to the latest drivers from Windows 7 is great to keep your computer at its best operating mode. Driver Update Process: Your computer may sometimes give a Device Manager Error code and updating a driver can be the solution to the problem. To update drivers for a specific piece of hardware often enable additional features as well and it is very easy to do. To update drivers in Windows 7 will take approximately 15 minutes.On the manufacturers website you download the newest driver available of the hardware. There will be several other downloads on various websites, but from the manufacturer the most current will be obtainable. The driver update process will allow you to choose from a Windows update or from a hardware installation disk. Here you will find how to update a driver manually and it is very effective. Often however you will find a driver already integrated with software, which automatically installs a driver. Where you obtain the driver download, the manufacturers will inform you if it is packaged as such, then you will not need to do the driver download process for Windows 7 manually.Driver Download Process In the Control Panel of Windows 7 you open the Device Manager, although there are other ways to open it, it is easiest to access it from Control Panel. When Device Manager is open, you find the hardware, which you need for the driver update. Click the > icon, as it will navigate you through all the categories of hardware, as it can be listed in major hardware as well. When you found the hardware you want the updating drivers for, you need to right click your mouse on the specific hardware and then you choose Properties. In this window, you need to click Driver tab.Following you need to click on the Update Driver tab.The wizard for Update Driver Software will start now and you will be asked how you want to search for the driver software. Choose, – Browse my computer for software. Following window, you choose – to pick from the list of device drivers located in my computer and click – Have Disk.Next, you click Browse when Install from Disk appears in dialog box.In the File list, you can click on any INF file and click Open, as the INF files are the only files accepted for a driver setup from the Device Manager.Following you click – Back, in the dialog box.Choose the added hardware in text box and click Next button.The Windows 7 Driver Software will proceed to use instructions in INF file to install the drivers for the chosen hardware.Now you need to follow additional instructions from the wizard on the screen and you will be prompted to restart the computer after driver update is complete.  Andy’s driver finding website is at www.bravofiles.com
