Modman Commentary – The Demise of Microsoft; whose worse – GW or Obama?

Back in the stone age of computers when I was the cat’s meow and PCs first started, the bully on the block was IBM.  They were the top dog in the mainframe and minicomputer market and one of the first to venture into PCs.  They needed an operating system and selected MS DOS hawked by Bill Gates.  Their big mistake was not having Bill Gates sign an exclusive licensing agreement, so Bill did the wise thing and sold his operating system (which he bought by the way) to competitors.  Microsoft grew, IBM shrank and eventually sold their PC division to Lenovo.  Microsoft grew to be the bully on the block, but that’s changing.  Microsoft is on the decline and they haven’t bottomed out yet.  The operating system running a PC is not as important as the web browser.  Microsoft is being challenged on the OS side by Mac and Linux.  Microsoft’s Explorer browser has competition with FireFox, Safari and Google Chrome.  As usual, they try to enter a market too late, first with Microsoft Money versus Quicken and now with Bing as a search engine.  Microsoft is trying to generate revenue by now selling certified refurbished XP licenses.  Give me a break!  If they were smart, they would look to get into providing Internet access.  The bullies in the future will be those providing the Internet access, search engines and the most cost effecient on-line applications.  I don’t see Microsoft as a bully in the future.  OTHER STUFF: Can you think of any other point in time where the two worst Presidents in the history of this country served one right after the other?  Chime in – who’s worse – GW or Obama and why?  Best answer will get printed and get a free shirt.   How pathetic is the media that some wacho that wants to burn some books gets covered?  Again another wacho buys a gun and goes postal at the Kraft food company.  I don’t understand why a person doesn’t have to visit a shrink and have the shrink sign off prior to a gun purchase.  The whole idea of buying a gun is that you’re going to shoot someone or something.  Speaking of anger management, I hope Bobby Cox’s wife has somewhere else to go the next month as the Atlanta Braves finally fold.  Bobby won’t be happy.
