Sleeping Tech – Make your notebook battery last longer

QUESTION: Is there anything I can do to extend my notebook battery life?

ANSWER: Yepper.  FIRST don’t run the battery all the way down.  It puts too much strain on it.  SECOND keep it cool.  Use a notebook cooling pad on the unit ($20-25) and blow compressed air into the vents at least once every 6 months to dissipate dust buildup inside the unit.  THIRD if you’re going to work on AC power exclusively, remove the battery prior to turning on to keep if from charging, saving battery life.  FOURTH you could order a 2nd battery and alternate them.  I’ve been sleeping for a while.  What’s this I heard about some oil spill?
