Reason for slow computer

June 30 – Last day of month and slow time of year. Just cleaned up a Windows 7 notebook where major complaint was the speed (or lack there of) of unit. He wanted us to look at a processor or memory upgrade, however the hard drive was 76% full. We removed viruses, spyware. malware and optimized it as best we could, but to really speed the unit up we suggested to do a full wipe and reload of the unit or at least remove as much data as he could to his external and defrag the hard drive after doing so. Also worked on a Windows 98 unit (no not kidding) that had a failed hard drive. They just don’t make 20 gig IDE drives like they used to.
