XP Systems – still got them

Believe it or not we had someone come in to the store today and purchase a Windows XP system. He bought his last computer from us in 2002 and he’s upgrading from Windows 98 to XP. What a big jump for him! At this rate, he’ll be back in 2025 for a Windows 7 or 8 unit. Believe it or not XP systems are still a viable option for people running older applications specific software that would cost them a lot of money to replace. We are still running a very old DOS-based inventory control program. The software developer has wanted us to upgrade to their Windows-based program for a mere $4,000. The advantage – we would get more reporting capacity. GREAT – but $4,000 worth? We mostly do service and have 5-15 transactions a day – it’s not hard to keep up with what’s selling.
