Sleeping Tech – Beware of fake anti-virus offers
BEWARE OF FAKE ANTI-VIRUS OFFERS
Fraudulently advertised anti malware offers ranks among the fastest-growing types of on-line scams. Online ads that simulates Windows alert messages tout products with names like DriveCleaner, WinFixer, Antivirus XP, and Antivirus 2010 warning you that your computer is infected with some sort of malware and advertising to buy the named product to fix it. These scare tools only pretend to check your computer for malware. More often they will disable your registry and Windows features that prevent you from killing these programs or removing their alert messages. The best fix is to not download anything that contacts you online until you thoroughly investigate the offer.
