Sleeping Tech – Get your hardware driver updates
WINDOWS 7 AND DEVICE DRIVER UPDATES:If you purchase a Windows 7 computer, it’s a good idea to check to see if your devices in the computer (video, network card, sound, modem, wireless, etc.) have any device driver updates available. EXAMPLE: We have a customer that purchased a newer Windows 7 computer and wanted to use the dial up modem for Internet access. The modem would not dial out and it came installed with the computer. We connected up high speed, updated the modem driver and the modem then worked. To update drivers, under CONTROL PANEL / DEVICE MANAGER, right click on each device and select UPDATE DRIVER. Windows will automatically search and update to any newer driver for the device you selected. It doesn’t have to be Windows 7 to update hardware drivers. You can update your device drivers this way using VISTA or XP. WHO’S ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH: Who is supposed to be babysitting Michael Vick? A couple of dogs were kidnapped in Delaware last week. LAST WEEK’S TRIVIA QUESTION: Who built the firstmodern computer and in what year? We had John V. Atanasoff in 1942, which successfully used vacuum tubes to perform math calculations. THIS WEEK’S TRIVIA QUESTION: What was James Kirk’s middle name and what were Spock’s parent’s name. First correct winner gets a T-shirt.
